The South African Cultural Observatory (SACO) has announced a new opportunity for aspiring scholars in the cultural and creative sectors through its 2026–2027 Postgraduate Scholarship Programme. This initiative invites applications from postgraduate students across South African (SA) universities, offering financial support and a chance to contribute to the growth of the country’s cultural and creative industries.
SACO’s scholarship programme aims to empower SA nationals pursuing postgraduate degrees in areas aligned with the creative, cultural, heritage, or sports sectors. With a closing date of 31 August 2025 at 12h00, eligible students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
The scholarship provides financial assistance of up to R40,000, which can be used towards tuition and study-related expenses. While it is not full funding, this contribution helps ease the financial burden for students committed to furthering research and innovation in South Africa’s cultural economy.
