Career opportunity within BASA

Career opportunity within Business and Arts South Africa (BASA) for a Chief Executive Officer.

This position is being re-advertised with the closing date being Friday 2 November 2018 by 17:00.

Provide Leadership for the NPC Business and Arts South Africa, guiding the organisation, strategy and working closely with stakeholders and beneficiaries – Public Sector, Private Sector and Third Sector or Civil Society, for the benefit of broader society.

Reporting to the Chairperson and the Board of BASA, a registered Non-Profit Company, the CEO is responsible for providing strategic leadership and effective operational management for the organisation. This high profile and key position within the arts and business sectors serves a number of diverse stakeholders within the public and private sectors and the ability to optimise these partnerships for mutual benefit is key.

  •  A completed, relevant tertiary qualification
  • A postgraduate commercial or management qualification in marketing is advantageous
  •  A minimum of 10 years’ experience and credibility gained within the creative sector at senior management level with strategic and operational responsibilities
  •  An existing network within the arts and or business world is required
  • 10 years management experience gained in a corporate and or commercial role is beneficial
  •  Experience and proven success in an impactful development programme management is sought

The BASA CEO has key responsibility for:

  • Securing the future development of the arts sector in South Africa and contributing to corporate success through Shared Value
  • Ensuring that a suite of integrated programmes is implemented and achieve impact, nationally and internationally
  • Initiating, encouraging and leveraging mutually beneficial partnerships between business and the arts
  • Representing and promoting BASA in a credible and professional manner at all opportunities with all stakeholders
  •  Ensuring governance and regulatory compliance for all financial and other resources

The Market Theatre Foundation invites applications for the position of administrative assistant, Business Unit, at the Windybrow Arts Centre.

Business Unit: Administrative Assistant

A successful Administrative Assistant will act as the point of contact for all employees, providing administrative support and managing their queries.
  • The administrative officer is responsible for the majority of administrative duties in the centre
  • Main duties include managing office stock, preparing regular reports (e.g. expenses and office budgets), scheduling support for the Head of the Windybrow and the Centre.
  • The Admin Officer will manage employee records, organize files, answer calls, and provide support for the whole centre.
  • As administrative officer, the ideal candidate will be highly organized, and able to handle financial records and expenses.
  • Ultimately, should be able to ensure administrative activities run smoothly on a daily and long-term basis

Key Competence Requirements:
  • Grade 12
  • Diploma in office admin or equivalent
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures
  • Knowledge of computers and relevant software application
  • Knowledge of customers service principles and practices
  • Good Communication Skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Organizing and Planning
  • Reliability

Market Theatre Foundation: Media and Publicity Officer position open

The Market Theatre Foundation invites media and publicity graduates to apply for the position of a Media and Publicity Officer at the Market Photo Workshop.

Market Photo Workshop: Media and Publicity Officer

(12 months fixed term contract)

The Market Theatre Foundation invites applications from young graduates qualifying in the Media and Publicity sector to apply for the position of a Media and Publicity Officer reporting to the Public Programmes and Development Manager at the Market Photo Workshop. The position is a 12-months fixed term contract at 3 days a week.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Successful conceptualisation, planning, implementation, and review of publicity and marketing of the Photo Workshop including photography related design elements.
  • Ensure the Market Photo Workshop, its courses and projects are well publicised in media, including on social media platforms. Ensure the website content is developed to agreed standards and regularly updated. Develop publicity plans and strategies in support of projects assigned. Updated reports on media are kept. Ensure the Market Photo Workshop grows its media and publicity network of partners to benefit both courses and projects.
Key Competence Requirements:
  • Relevant diploma qualification – in media practice or marketing.
  • Experience in art and photography related practices including knowledge and skill on Adobe Suite (e.g. Adobe Photoshop CC, Adobe InDesign CC, Adobe Illustrator)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in media and publicity coordination and media strategy development. Excellent and professional communication skills to deal with external stakeholders and media. Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. Excellent writing and information gathering skills.
  • Compliment the skills set of the Market Photo Workshop team. Work well under pressure. Experience of working with an NGO will be an advantage. Knowledge/understanding of graphic design, computer skills in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Flash and basic programming skills, will be an advantage. A critical awareness of the nature and role of photography, and of the education and development landscape. Passionate, driven and dynamic.
