Lerato Mvelase is an award-winning South African actor, producer, and arts leader with more than two decades of experience across theatre, film, and television. Known for her versatility, discipline, and deep commitment to social impact, she has become a prominent voice in advancing creative excellence and transformation within the cultural industries. Her career spans celebrated performances in major television and streaming productions such as Isibaya and Justice Served (Netflix), as well as acclaimed theatre works that explore empowerment and identity. As a producer and director, she has helmed projects including Love of a Woman (Springs Theatre, 2013) and Him, Her and The Guys (SABC, 2015), demonstrating a strong command of storytelling, project management, and team leadership. Beyond the stage and screen, Mvelase’s commitment to community development is exemplified through her work as Founder and Director of the Single Mums Foundation, an organisation dedicated to supporting and empowering single mothers through education, mentorship, and social welfare programmes. Her leadership extends into governance: she currently serves on the boards of Constitution Hill, The Innovation Hub Management Company, and the Gauteng Tourism Authority, where she contributes to human resources, ethics, and governance subcommittees.
