Masilakhe Njomane

Masilakhe Njomane is a researcher with expertise in post-colonial studies, cultural industries and emerging technologies. Holding an MA in International Relations (Wits University) her work critically examines power structures through intersectional and decolonial frameworks. Currently serving as Lead Researcher for Electric South's Futures Past Immersive Arts Mapping Study, Masilakhe investigates how African digital artists reclaim narratives through immersive media. Her research bridges historical memory, technology and cultural preservation. Previously, as a Junior Research Fellow at the South African Cultural Observatory, she analysed policy impacts on creative economies and co-authored reports on AI’s disruptive effects in South Africa’s arts sector, exploring ethical dilemmas and labour shifts in the publication "Artificial Intelligence: Rushed Revolution or Holy Algorithmic Grail?"
