Nosipho Hlatshwayo

Nosipho Hlatshwayo is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the South African Cities Network (SACN), appointed effective 1 July 2024. With over 20 years of experience across the public and private sectors, Nosipho brings deep expertise in urban planning, development strategy, and programme management. In her current role, she is leading the strategic review of SACN’s operational model and value proposition to ensure the organisation remains a dynamic and responsive knowledge partner to South Africa’s cities. Prior to her appointment as CEO, she served as SACN’s Executive Manager for Programmes, where she successfully oversaw the implementation of national research and learning programmes aimed at advancing sustainable urban development. Before joining SACN, she was the Group Head for City Strategy at the City of Tshwane, responsible for the city’s strategy development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Her broader career includes championing innovative development initiatives, building institutional strategy capabilities, and fostering cross-sectoral collaboration. Nosipho is widely respected for her ability to convene stakeholders, drive strategic alignment, and translate complex urban challenges into actionable solutions. She remains committed to strengthening knowledge-sharing platforms that enable municipalities to co-create inclusive, resilient, and future-ready cities across South Africa.
