Sheldon Rocha Leal

Sheldon Rocha Leal holds a PhD in Music Business and Curriculum Design from the University of the Free State, a Master of Musicology and a BMus Honours from the University of Pretoria, focusing on technology in music education and arts and culture management. He also holds a BA in Law and Psychology. He is currently the Academic Registrar at the Academy of Sound Engineering and has over 20 years of lecturing and teaching experience. Sheldon has previously worked with SAQA to develop the national music curriculum for the FET and GET phases of education, as well as a generic Bachelor of Arts qualification. He has presented and lectured at several universities in South Africa, including the University of Pretoria, Rhodes University, UNISA, and Nelson Mandela University. In addition to his academic work, he is a musician and songwriter, having written music for various artists.
