Beyond the plenary sessions and panel discussions, the first floor at the DHL Stadium emerged as one of the most dynamic and engaging areas at the SACO 5th International Conference held in November 2025. Throughout the two days of the Conference, delegates paused between sessions to admire the remarkable craftmanship on display, engage exhibitors in conversation, and truly marvel at the creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship showcased.
Many delegates shared how refreshing it was to move from theory into practice to see concepts discussed in sessions come alive through products, services and lived experiences which were presented by exhibitors. These ranged from educational resources and storytelling tools, sheep skin goods, slippers and socks, jewellery, beaded-work, immersive virtual experiences and many more.
The exhibitors were selected through an open application process facilitated by the Craft and Design Institute (CDI), whose members applied to exhibit at the Conference. CDI partnered with SACO to support this process, ensuring that the exhibition showcased work that aligned meaningfully with the values and themes of the Conference. This partnership reinforced the connection between SACO’s research work and creative practitioners at the forefront of the cultural and creative industries.
SACO extends its heartfelt and sincere appreciation to the CDI, dedicated and delightful exhibitors, delegates who took the time to engage so openly and turned the exhibition space into a true meeting place of ideas and creativity!
