DEPARTMENT OF SPORT ARTS AND CULTURE BURSARY PROGRAMME
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture has selected Nelson Mandela University as one of their beneficiaries for the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture’s Bursary programme for both undergraduate and postgraduate students for the 2025 – 2026 cycle. The bursary is housed in the Faculty of Humanities. This bursary only contributes towards tuition fees for undergraduate and postgraduate studies for students enrolled in language studies. Furthermore, the bursary does not undertake to provide full cost funding for students. Funding is at the discretion of the Department of Languages & Literature and the Department of Linguistics and Applied Linguistics in the Faculty of Humanities. Students are therefore advised to apply for additional funding from other internal and external sources.
Eligibility Criteria:
a) Applicants must be completing a bachelor’s degree with languages as a major (linguistics or literature) or have completed an undergraduate degree with languages as major and currently pursuing postgraduate degrees in languages.
b) Entrance mark or aggregate:
I. Undergraduate Studies
• Applicants seeking funding for second and third-year undergraduate modules must have obtained at least 65% on all first- or second-year undergraduate modules to be considered for funding.
II. Postgraduate Studies
• An applicant must have obtained an overall aggregate of at least 65% in the previous degree. That is:
o an applicant seeking funding for an Honours degree, must have obtained a 65% overall aggregate at an undergraduate level to be considered for funding.
o an applicant seeking funding for a Master’s degree, must have obtained a 65% overall aggregate at Honours level to be considered for funding.
