THE Wits Trio, will perform in the Linder Auditorium on Saturday 22 April for the Johannesburg Musical Society. Pianist Malcolm Nay and violinist Zanta Hofmeyr will be joined by cellist Maciej Lacny to play a programme of established works from the classic repertoire, as well as a contemporary composition dedicated especially to them.
Since its inception in 2012, the Wits trio has drawn a loyal following. Malcolm Nay is Associate Professor of Music of the Wits Music School and is an excellent solo pianist, while violinist Zanta Hofmeyr is a product of the Juilliard School of Music and is a familiar figure to audiences as concerto soloist as well as ensemble player. Polish-born cellist Maciej Lacny, formerly of the Cracow Quartet, now joins them to form an exceptional trio of music-makers.
The Linder box office opens at 19:00 for ticket sales, but since there is no credit card facility at the Linder, you may wish to pre-book at Computicket. Students pay minimal rates if they are 23 years old and younger and have a valid student card.
