THE South African Cultural Observatory (SACO) is once again the recipient of a generous donation from Van Schaik Book Store in Cape Town, after receiving a significant bulk donation for the SACO library in July.
Van Schaik donated a staggering total of 146 books, which includes a wide variety of titles, to the SACO library.
“These books are of great use to us and to the many sectors we serve,” said Tazleen Jooste, SACO Knowledge Manager. “This donation – and the previous one – not only support the growth of our library, but also access to knowledge, which is something we are mandated to deliver to the creative and cultural industries.”
The primary aim of the library and documentation centre is to support the SACO research staff of by providing access to a collection of materials that best serves the research and learning needs of the SACO staff, its visitors and consultants.
Secondly, the library also provides support to the industry as a repository of information for sector experts, researchers and a hub for industry practitioners.

Heritage Month is a time to honour the traditions, languages, histories, knowledge systems, customs and creative expressions that have been passed from generation to generation, while recognising that our heritage is not confined to the past.
