PALESA Kgasane’s uber cool Mzansi Moodboard, showcases creativity from a variety of individuals and spaces “with a special emphasis on young women of colour”. In the latest instalment of the Moodboard titled “Spring in Mzansi”, Kgasane says “growing weary of seeing the same kind of people, I wanted to put together a group of women I find inspiring and style a photoshoot that will change the way we see fashion and also showcase the beauty that is Cape Town and the magical women of colour”.
All dressed in yellow Merwe Mode garments, the result is a beautiful set of images shot on what looks like a beach in Sea Point, with some of the exciting and interesting young women shaking up the scene. Exploring the idea of nostalgia and the colour yellow in all its symbolic meaning of light, warmth and rebirth; this time we took on a fashion-film approach, as a challenge and also materialising something I’ve always wanted to do, saya Kgasane.
