SACO Library gets generous Van Schaik, Bargain Books donations

THE South African Cultural Observatory (SACO) has been the recipient of two generous and vast donation from two leading South African book stores: Bargain Books and Van Schaik.

Zena Meyer, the manager of Bargain Books, Factory Shop, in Diep River, Cape Town authorised the donation of four books.  The books are predominately beautifully illustrated art books and feature the history and techniques of the great masters as well as the history of Western art from pre-history to the 21^st century. 

Margie Muller, the branch manager of Van Schaik Bookstore in Rondebosch, Cape Town authorised the donation of a staggering 91 books to the SACO Library.  The books donated by Van Schaik fit in perfectly the with SACO selection criteria for the acquisition of library material namely, arts, culture, economics and heritage. 

“We as the SACO team are extremely grateful for these donations. All the material received have been catalogued and shelved and look beautiful in their new found home,” said SACO Librarian Marlene Scharf. “We are, of course, looking to grow our library and everyone is welcome to donate.”

The SACO also recently acquired the following titles for the SACO Library at the SACO offices in Port Elizabeth (21-23 Donkin Street):
