Presentation Title: Expect the Spoken Word to Open Whole New Worlds

Elza-lynne Kruger, has over three decades senior corporate experience locally and internationally in business development, communications, marketing, audiovisual production and TV and Radio broadcasting. She holds a B.A. Honours from the University of KwaZulu Natal and is a member of the International Who’s Who of Professionals Historical Society. Over the past 6 years as national executive director of Tape Aids For The Blind, an audio library and book production non-profit organisation with over 500 volunteer narrators and proof-readers nationwide, she implemented its migration from analogue to digital formats and is currently engaged in advocacy work developing accessible formats and inclusive education for children with special needs. She is passionate about building a Nation of avid readers using digital technologies and the spoken word through her Organisation’s Talking e-Books and Hear-to-Read education outreach initiatives. As convenor of the Accessible Broadcasting Sub-committee of the ICT Chamber’s Working Group, she is actively developing and introducing innovative broadcasting technologies, engaging with Government Departments, Regulators, and civil society. Building on a one-hand-washes-the-other philosophy that rewards all role players in the creative common whilst also developing job opportunities, she is committed to improving literacy rates and promoting our multi-lingual heritage, oral traditions and creative economy.
