Ms Asanda N. Magaqa

Award-winning Journalist and Producer, Media and Communications Consultant, Media Trainer and Facilitator

Asanda Magaqa is an award-winning Journalist and Producer of great renown in- having begun her career as a Radio Journalist and Current Affairs Producer at SABC News in Port Elizabeth in 2004. In a career spanning over 13 years, she has anchored notable Radio and Television Current Affairs shows including SABC 1’s “Asikhulume/Let’s Talk, SABC 3’s “In The Public Interest, Africa News Network 7’s “Between The Lines”, SAFM’s “Weekend PM Live, and Umhlobo Wenene FM’s “Laphum’ikhwezi.

She is a recipient of numerous awards and accolades including Vodacom Journalist of the Year: TV Feature, Vodacom Journalist of the Year: Radio News, Vodacom Journalist of the Year: Radio Feature, BBC Africa Radio News Journalist of the Year (Southern Africa) and has also been included in Mail and Guardian’s “Top 200 Young South Africans” List.

Through her company MagaqNACarta (Pty) Ltd, Asanda is now using her extensive experience as a Journalist and Producer as a Specialist Consultant in Media Relations, Communications, Film and Media Training.

Asanda is a freelance Political Correspondent at eNCA, a Contributor at Huffington Post SA and the Author of “The Lawyers Who Did Not Live By Law Alone: The Story Of The National Association Of Democratic Lawyers”- due to be published in February 2018.
