Zayd Minty
Zayd Minty has been involved in culture and development professionally since 1993, as a cultural manager, curator and commentator, working in a range of organisations and projects. He has focused, more especially, on contemporary arts, festivals, post-apartheid museums, public art, and creative city strategies, primarily in Cape Town, South Africa. As manager of the City of Cape Town’s Arts and Culture Department, he penned the only existing cultural policy for an African municipality. He currently writes for a blog on urban cultural policy in the global South – Creative City South. He is registered for a Phd in Human Geography at the University of Cape Town, looking at culture and urban revitalisation in the inner city of Johannesburg focussing on the Newtown Cultural Precinct.
